Dear Friends, My new CD program titled “The Mind-Body Code: How the Mind Wounds and Heals the Body” is doing very well. Tami Simon (founder of SoundsTrue) interviewed me to discuss my latest thinking on my theory and practice of Biocognition. The Podcast interview is available now at http://www.soundstrue.com/podcast/?p=1027

I encourage you to hear it and, hopefully, allow it to serve you well.

Enjoy, Mario Martinez

This is my take on a recent conference call with John Assaraf in his own words and partly in my interpretations.  Basically the key message is that information is not the answer rather having the right mindset which affects our behavioural process is the KEY!!!! If we wanted to be databanks we all could be libraries.

Setting goals only is not the answer! Setting goals is deductive but it is not taking action. We have two parts of the brain the explicit and implicit. The explicit scans for information. The implicit causes you to take action. Your behaviour is not conscious but it is based on the implicit system and on your conditioning in the past. 50% of conditioning is based on DNA and 50% based on the beliefs you had growing up.  The implicit system controls your breathing, hair growth, immune system, cell reproduction, healing and our critical life support functions that we are not even conscious of!

All the information and energy we need to fulfill our goals is in the here and now. It’s just that we are not conditioned to pick up on it. We have 5 gears or 5 brain wave frequencies. Visualisation and Meditation puts us in a receiving mode and allows our biological systems to rest and pick up the information they need. Our brain systems keep us in homeostatis or in our comfort zones. We need our neural systems which affect our behaviour to move us beyond our comfort zones into the lives we dream of!

Through affirmations and repetition, you can reinforce new beliefs that will get you to think differently and behave differently. If done correctly, you can set up the right mindset to achieve goals that you’ve always dreamed of. Here are the basics of the process:

1. Proper Affirmations: Focus on the goals you want to achieve as if you have already achieved them. Focus on affirmations like “I am a successful business owner.”

2. Visualization: Play a mental movie of yourself in the place that you want to be. Be exact – how much revenue you are making, how many clients you have, what they are saying about you, your lifestyle – make yourself FEEL as though it is already happening.

3. Meditation: This isn’t just some “Eastern Art”. Meditation puts your brain in a frequency that will help you reform your beliefs. Hundreds of OneCoach members have attested that meditation has helped them create success in their businesses and made what was once impossible, easy.

4. Auditory Program: You can download music that helps get your brain in the frequency to meditate, or even record your own affirmations to listen to as you meditate.

5. Vision Board: Create a visual representation for your business – whether it is the type of office you want to work in, the things in your office, or your number of clients. Make sure you have something to look at to help re-affirm your new beliefs.

Use a little bit of these steps or a lot of it. I recommend at least 7 minutes a day. If your success isn’t worth 7 minutes a day, then I can’t help you… so set aside the time, and do it

Few things are as important to ‘attraction’ (or rather your act of ‘creation’) as what some scientists call the ‘ultradian rest response’. You may have never heard of this before, but it’s one of the keys to bringing about in your life what you want to see.

You see, there is a great difference between ‘thinking’ and ‘knowing’. Thinking is a purely intellectual activity. It mainly takes place as electrochemical processes in your body and brain.

‘Knowing’ on the other hand, transcends intellect. It is what is often called ‘intuition’. Intuition is often defined as ‘immediate knowing’, without the conscious use of reasoning. There is no sequence of thoughts following up on each other leading to an outcome. It’s just there, instantly. Bang! You suddenly get it.

“Aha!”

It appears to be stemming from a whole different source of awareness compared to the ‘rational mind’ or intellect that we tend to use so much in our lives.

In our modern societies, we find ourselves under so much pressure to ignore intuition and to rationalize everything that happens. We’d rather go with our ‘heads’ than go with our ‘hearts’. We learn that from an early age in our education system, which puts the main focus on the left part of the brain, the intellectual and analytical part.

Sleeping on a problem really can help solve it, claim scientists who discovered a nap can improve your powers of creativity. Researchers found that people were able to think more laterally and quickly after a snooze and that if they dreamed the ability was even more enhanced. The scientists believe that “incubating” a problem often leads to a solution but that the effect was increased when people entered a phase of sleep known as Rapid Eye Movement (REM). They believe that REM- which occurs most predominantly just before we awake – helps the brain make connections between unrelated subjects. REM sleep they concluded was “important for assimilating new information into past experience” to come up with creative solutions to problems. The study, led by Professor Sara Mednick, a psychiatrist at the University of California, involved 77 young adults who were given a number of word associated creative tasks in the morning. Participants were shown multiple groups of three words (such as: cookie, heart, sixteen) and asked to find a fourth word that can be associated to all three words (like sweet). Later in the day after some were allowed a nap – and monitored using brain scans to see what kind of sleep they entered – they were given the same and new tasks. For the same tasks, the passage of time and sleep allowed them to “incubate” their thoughts and come up with better and more varied solutions. However for new tasks, it was found that those that entered REM sleep improved by almost 40 per cent over their morning performances . Prof Mednick, who published her findings in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). said that it appears REM sleep especially helps achieve new solutions by allowing the brain to make new and useful associations between unrelated ideas. “We found that – for creative problems that you’ve already been working on – the passage of time is enough to find solutions,” said Prof Mednick. “However, for new problems, only REM sleep enhances creativity.” The researchers said that the findings suggested that sleep was a creative process and underlined the recommendation by Nobel Prize winning chemist Friedrich Kekule who said we must “learn to dream”. The solutions to our problems lie within our reach. Your ability to step back from the problem and see the bigger picture (things like sleep, daydreaming, walks in Nature, play, etc) can be the very thing you need most.  Paul Bauer
